Cypherpunk Zero
Inspired by Zcash and Halo cryptography, the Cypherpunk Zero Creative Universe is a collaborative effort between ECC, illustrator Stranger Wolf, Mighty Jaxx and select ecosystem partners. Consisting of a forthcoming series of webcomics, NFTs and physical collectibles, the project explores the relationship between privacy, self-sovereignty and creative freedom.
Our story is centered on Zero, a young cypherpunk hacker and freedom fighter, as she navigates the intersection of the real and virtual worlds, attempting to create a brighter future with a new set of revolutionary technological discoveries.
web2 vs web3
Web2, the latest era of the Internet, ushered in widespread online social interactivity, user-created content and cloud computing. It also planted the seeds of the Metaverse, a persistent virtual space where we spend roughly one third of our waking lives, producing vast amounts of data in the process. But the accessibility and mainstream adoption enabled by Web2 comes at a cost. Within the walled gardens of Web2, your data is not your data. It is owned and controlled by large centralized gatekeepers, such as corporations and governments, who are free to censor, leak, monetize and otherwise exploit your digital footprint.
Web3, enabled by technologies like Zcash and its forthcoming Halo proving system, is a paradigm shift towards a more democratized Internet. Web3 promises to rebuild many of the existing products and services of Web2, often with decentralized blockchain protocols, so that platforms benefit individuals rather than rent-seeking intermediaries.
